QUICK NOTES
: Returning five-time USTFCCCA All-America First Team honoree in the pole vault and a six-time American Athletic Conference pole vault champion… two-time competitor for Spain at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in the pole vault, including 2015 Beijing and 2017 London… has placed in the Top 6 at the NCAA Indoor Championships three years in a row (2015-17) and added Top 6 showings in 2015 and 2017… national runner-up outdoors in 2017… undefeated in conference competitions in the pole vault… coontinually ranked among the Top 15 in the NCAA throughout much of each season and among the Top 25 in the world… holds school records indoors (5.60m/18-04.50) and outdoors (5.70m/18-08.25)… also accomplished academically having graduated from UC in 2016, being named a CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team and the 2017 NCAA Indoor Elite 90 Award (highest GPA among all competitors at the final site of all 90 NCAA Championship events).
 
2016-17 SEASONS
2017 OUT (JR*): Named the team’s Most Outstanding Athlete of the 2016-17 academic year… qualified for and competed in the IAAF World Championships in London… cleared 5.70m (18-08.25) at a street meet in Landau, Germany, to hit the qualifying standard to represent Spain on the world stage for the second time in his senior career… that mark also broke his own school record that was previously 5.65m… finished as the NCAA runner-up outdoors, finishing with a clearance of 5.55m (18-02.50)… that placement earned him USTFCCCA All-America First Team accolades for the second time outdoors and the fifth time in his career… won all five meets in the season prior to that, including his third-consecutive AAC Championship title… first cleared his season-best of 5.55m at the Lyles/Wood Invitational… that mark also set a meet and facility record at Louisville… selected for CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team honors, making him just the third man in program history to earn first team accolades in the highest national academic honor distributed annually.
2017 IN (JR*): Competed in seven meets, winning all but one… took fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships to earn his third-consecutive USTFCCCA All-America First Team honor in as many years… won his third-consecutive AAC Championship title with a school-record clearance of 5.60m (18-04.50)… that mark also is a meet and conference indoor record… voted the AAC Male Field Athlete of the Meet for his record clearance… cleared 5.57m (18-03.25) to win the Charlie Thomas Invitational, setting a meet record at the event at Texas A&M as well… cleared 5.43m or better in all but two meets… twice named the AAC Male Field Athlete of the Week (January 17 & January 24)… at the NCAA Championships, was named the recipient of the Elite 90 Award for holding the highest GPA of all male competitors at the indoor meet… selected as the 2016-17 AAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as the AAC Male Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
 
2015-16 SEASONS
2016 OUT (SO*)
: Completed back-to-back conference sweeps by winning the American Athletic Conference title for the second year in a row and four straight including indoors… cleared 5.45m (17-10.50) to win the title and tie his season best… did enough to clear 5.30m (17-04.50) at the NCAA East Preliminary meet to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second year in a row… recorded no height at the national finals, but was selected to the USTFCCCA All-America Honorable Mention list… opened the year taking second (first among collegiate competitors) at the Tiger Track Classic before winning the next four meets in a row, including the conference meet… capped the year earning American Athletic Conference All-Academic honors… also earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honors… selected for USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition as well.
2016 IN (SO*): Maintained his strangle hold on the pole vault at the conference level by winning his second-consecutive American Athletic Conference title, clearing a season-best 5.43m (17-09.75)… advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships for the second year in a row and improved his placement by finishing fifth overall… cleared 5.35m (17-06.50) at the national meet to earn USTFCCCA All-America First Team honors… also added wins at the Kentucky Invitational and the Buckeye Tune-up… cleared 17-00.00 or better in five of the seven meets he entered.
 
2014-15 SEASONS
2015 OUT (FR*)
: Took home USTFCCCA All-America First Team honors for the second NCAA meet in a row, this time finishing fifth in the nation with a clearance of 5.50m (18-00.50)… that clearance marked the third time this season he recorded a mark higher than the previous school record (5.44m)… broke the record at the Louisville Twilight with a clearance of 5.57m (18-03.25)… upped the record to 5.65m (18-06.50) to win the American Outdoor Championships… garnered recognition as the 2015 American Athletic Conference Male Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet… claimed victories four times, including the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round to advance to the NCAA finals… captured the season-opening Miami Invitational… qualified for the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Beijing, China… competing for his native Spain, he placed 16th in his flight.
2015 IN (FR*): Earned USTFCCCA All-America First Team honors with his sixth-place finish (5.45m/17-10.50) in the pole vault at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships… broke the school record at the Ohio State Tune-Up with a clearance of 5.47m (17-11.25) to win… followed that up by winning the American Indoor Championships title… in all, he won two titles, took runner-up honors three times (Kentucky Invitational, Armory Invitational and Akron Invitational) and added a pair of fourth-place finishes.
 
2013-14 SEASONS
2014 IN & OUT (FR)
: Redshirted both seasons.

PRIOR TO UC: Competed and won the pole vault at the 2014 World Juniors Championships... won the pole vault at the 2013 U-18 Spanish National Championships... personal-best clearance of 17' 2.75".
