CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati head men's golf coach Doug Martin has announced the additions of transfers Cole Imig (UAB) and Connor McNeely (Butler) ahead of the 2023-24 season. Both will have three years of eligibility with the Bearcats.
"Our goal as a program is to add good players to our roster every year," Martin said. "It's vital to have depth. Depth creates competition, and competition creates a better team. Both Connor and Cole bring that to our program."
Imig was one of four Blazers to compete in every event, collecting a 75.21 stroke average over 29 rounds. His best finish was 20th out of 90 at the Carolina Cup in the fall in Spartanburg, S.C., helping UAB to the team title. He had three under-par rounds after redshirting his first season in 2021-22. Imig attended nearby Mountain Brook High School in Alabama, ranking 63rd in the 2021 class.
McNeely's 73.2 stroke average was second at Butler last season, in addition to one of two Bulldogs to play in all 11 tournaments. He had three top-10 finishes, led by a fifth-place finale at the BIG EAST Championship, and his lowest round was a 5-under 65 at Butler's Don Benbow Invitational, where he finished sixth. McNeely attended the same high school, Guerin Catholic in Noblesville, Ind., as UC redshirt-senior Ty Gingerich.
Cincinnati is coming off its first-ever team trip to the NCAA Regionals before it begins Big 12 competition this season.
