CINCINNATI -- A tough final round for the Cincinnati men's golf team saw it fall to fourth in its Bearcat Invitational, while Connor McNeely posted his highest-career finish as the runner-up at Coldstream Country Club.

"First, I want to congratulate Connor McNeely on a great week," head coach Doug Martin said. "It was very unfortunate for his finish on 16 and 17, but coming in second in this field is a fantastic week for him. William played well finishing in the top-10 as well."

McNeely had the lead after Monday's 36 holes, which included tying a career-low 65 to start and being one of two in the field to not record a bogey.

William McDonald earned his second top-10 finish by tying for ninth. His previous best was 10th at the 2023 AAC Championships. This was his third time playing in the Bearcat Invitational, having also finished a season-best 16th as a freshman for Arkansas in 2019.

Louisville's Sebastian Moss birdied the final three holes, to go with his bogey-free round, to win by four strokes. Chattanooga won by eight over the runner-up Cardinals.

"Part of what you do in a home event is setting up a course that can challenge not only your team, but others," Martin said. "Hopefully your knowledge of the course will benefit you, but I thought we made mistakes today that we made the first two events and did not make yesterday. Until we really commit to some of these things to get better, we'll continue to make those mistakes. We'll sit down and look at the week statistically and figure out where we are before Big 12 match play."

The Bearcats get a moderate break before traveling to Houston for its Big 12 event, Oct. 9-11.
