CINCINNATI -- The Big 12 Conference's Homecoming Weekend in Cincinnati continued Friday with a league staff and Bearcats student-athlete visit to College Hill Fundamental Academy.

This portion of the series included the unveiling of a $50K makeover for a new STEM center as a part of the College Football Playoff Foundation's signature program, Extra Yard Makeover Project. Thursday featured the Be You Women's Empowerment event, presented by Allstate.

Hannah Jackson, a standout junior thrower on the track and field team, is the president of UC's Black Student-Athlete Association. The organization took it up a notch beyond the expectations for the event.

"We purchased around 100 books," Jackson said. "It was very important for us to make sure a lot of them were black and people-of-color authors. We wanted to make sure we had enough books so the kids could see people like them doing extraordinary things.

"We looked online and saw that this school was 90 percent African-American, and we wanted to make sure they had literature that reflected that and that looked like them."

Two teachers were also presented $1,000 apiece towards their classrooms.

The spirit programs also led students in cheers to start things off, with several athletes in attendance reading with the children prior to departure.

Cincinnati's game on Saturday with No. 16 Oklahoma (12 p.m.) features FOX's Big Noon Kickoff live on campus from 10 till noon.
