CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati swimming and diving head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle announced the hires of assistant coaches Elisabeth Peskin and Ben Herboth on Thursday.
Peskin will assist with the swimmers, while Herboth will help coach the divers.
ELISABETH PESKIN - ASSISTANT COACH
Peskin joins the staff after serving as an assistant coach for one season at Southern Indiana in 2022-23. She assisted with the instruction of the Screaming Eagles' inaugural season that featured three dual meet victories and served an integral role in the program's first Summit League Championship appearance.
"I am excited about the addition of Elisabeth to our staff," said Commons-DiSalle. "She has great passion for the sport and will help continue to support our strong team culture development with her previous experiences."
Prior to Southern Indiana, Peskin served in a similar assistant role for two seasons at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from 2020-22.
Peskin was a part of a staff that saw the Rose-Hulman's men's swimming and diving team claim consecutive team titles at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships in 2021 and 2022. She also helped direct the women's team to a third-place finish in 2022, their best finish since 2019.
A native of Fishers, Ind., she was a four-year letter winner for the Indiana State swimming team. She was named a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete, received the teams' Coaches Award for being an outstanding teammate and was selected as one of 30 Missouri Valley Conference student athletes to receive the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award.
He graduated with a degree in communications from North Carolina in 2013.
Her previous field experience includes working as a strength and conditioning intern and camp counselor at Indiana State, in addition to working with the Summer Break Swim Club in Fishers.
Peskin graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in strength and conditioning from Indiana State in 2020.
BEN HERBOTH - DIVING COACH
Herboth joins the Bearcats after spending one season at George Mason as diving coach in 2022-23, where he assisted with the full diving unit.
"Ben brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that is going to ignite our diving program in the Big 12," added Commons-DiSalle. "I am very excited to see where he takes our diving program."
Prior to George Mason, he served as a diving coach at Townson for three seasons in 2019-22. In 2021-22, Herboth led four Tigers divers to the NCAA Zone A Championships and helped Sarah Digaetano and Alyssa Largay to Scholar All-America accolades.
In 2020-21, Herboth coached senior Will Canny to a pair of silver medals in 1m and 3m events and led Ajani Dorner to claim two bronze medals in 1m and 3m at the 2021 CA Conference Championships.
Before his stint at Townson, Herboth was the diving coach at Cal State Bakersfield. While at Cal State Bakersfield, he coached multiple NCAA Zone E qualifiers every year and multiple Academic All-Americans.
In 2016-17, he coached Carlee Burks to set program records in both the 1m and 3m, which still stand.
Herboth is a former USA diving national qualifier and placed in the top five at the ACC Championships on both boards while diving at the University of North Carolina. He was the 2004 Nike Cup 3m Champion and highest point scorer of any Tarheel swimmer or diver at the 2005 ACC Championships. He was also the recipient of the 2005 David F. McGinnis award for Most Outstanding Diver at Chapel Hill.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Herboth grew up diving under current Kentucky head coach Ted Hautau, where he was a five-time U.S.A. Diving National Qualifier. He was the 2002 Junior National silver and bronze medalist and a three-time First Team All-American at East Mecklenburg High School.
