VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Connor McNeely's 6-under 138 put him in a tie for 14th, and the Cincinnati men's golf team is in fourth after 36 holes at the Quail Valley Collegiate.
Cincinnati's 275 for the morning was its lowest round of the season. McNeely's 67 to begin the day was his fourth in the 60s this year. He was the Bearcats' top finisher in two of the first three tournaments.
"We played solid today in the morning round shooting 13 under," head coach Doug Martin said. "This afternoon, the wind picked up and we just didn't execute very well on the key shots. It's very important to not stop making birdies when you're playing a course like this. Tomorrow cannot afford to make the mistakes we made today."
Ty Gingerich's 140 marked his best 36-hole score of the season by six strokes. He is tied for 20th and looking to beat his highest finish of the fall, which was 22nd at the season-opening Marquette Intercollegiate.
The competitive field features 15 of the 16 teams under par so far.
The final 18 holes begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
