CINCINNATI - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data earlier this week, and the University of Cincinnati set a school-record for the second-straight year with its 97 percent rate, up from 95 percent in 2022.
UC maintained above a 92% GSR for a fifth consecutive year – the five highest-marks from UC in the 18 years that the NCAA has announced the data. Among NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision schools, UC tied for the fifth-highest graduation rate nationally, behind only Boston College, Duke, Northwestern and Notre Dame. UC's mark led all Big 12 schools.
"Once again, I am impressed by the commitment to academics by our extraordinary student-athletes," Director of Athletics John Cunningham said. "Breaking into the top-five nationally and setting a new school record shows how well-rounded our student-athletes are and is a testament to the hard work put in by our Student Athlete Support Services team and the priority on off-the-field accomplishments placed by our coaching staffs."
Every Cincinnati sport posted an 89 percent or higher GSR, with last year's lowest mark at 83. Seven sports achieved perfect marks: men's golf, women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis and volleyball.
"John Cunningham, our head coaches and complete support staffs, and our student-athletes make obtaining a degree the top priority here at the University of Cincinnati," said Dr. Joe Luckey, Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS). "Our SASS team is thrilled to join our department in breaking records in back-to-back years and continuing to establish UC among the top programs in the country when it comes to graduating student-athletes."
