CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team will open its 2024 spring dual-match season on Saturday at the indoor courts at the Western Athletic Club.
The Bearcats will host the Chicago State Cougars at 1:30 p.m. before taking on the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday marks the spring opener for all three schools.
The Bearcats are expected to be led by junior Callie Flanagan. The Overland Park, Kan., native held a 13-8 overall record in singles and doubles during the fall. She went 7-3 in singles and 15-5 in doubles during the 2023 spring dual-match season.
Cincinnati returns three of its 12 players from last season's campaign and welcomes five new players: three freshmen – Gabrielle Guenther, Morgan Pyrz and Sara Watanabe – along with two transfers – graduate student Victoire de Samucewicz (Costal Carolina) and sophomore Rozalia Gruszczynska (Kansas State).
THE OPPONENTS
In 2023, Chicago State finished with a 13-14 record and a 4-3 record in the Horizon League, while Southern Indiana finished with a 4-15 record and an 0-5 record in the Ohio Valley Conference.
CINCINNATI IN OPENERS UNDER COACH TOTH
The Bearcats have a 6-3 record in season-opening dual matches under head coach Eric Toth, including a 5-1 mark when at home.
