Track and Field Hits the Road Again for Bob Pollock Invitational

As the indoor track and field season continues to move along, the University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program will take a trip to Clemson, S.C., to compete in the Bob Pollock Invitational this weekend.

CINCINNATI— As the indoor track and field season continues to move along, the University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program will take a trip to Clemson, S.C., to compete in the Bob Pollock Invitational this weekend.
 
The two-day invitational will be held Jan. 26-27 inside the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex. On Friday, multi's events will start early 8:00 a.m. while field events will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday's multi's action will commence at 9:00 a.m. followed by field events starting at 10 a.m. and track events beginning at noon. A total of 31 Bearcats will be making the trip to Clemson. Fans can follow along with all the action via live results found here. Both days of the meet will also be streamed on the ACC Network on ESPN, a subscription to the service is required to watch.

Graduate student Tyler Wirth and freshman Oliver Mayer each broke program records the Indiana Invitational on Jan. 19-20, as Bearcats recorded four total program top-10 marks over the course of the two-day meet.
 
Wirth broke his own mile school record with a time of 3:59.13. He is the only Bearcat in program history to ever run a sub-4 minute mile and has now accomplished the feat twice in his career as he originally broke the record last year.
 
Mayer broke the UC freshman weight throw record with a massive personal best throw of 19.29m / 63' 3.5" besting former Bearcat Sam Meece's 2018 mark of 18.64m / 61' 2". He finished second overall in the event and moved to fourth all-time in program history with his mark.

In the season's first USTFCCCA regional rankings, the UC women began the season ranked seventh, while UC men came in at 14th in the Great Lakes Region.
 
On an individual note, Cincinnati has three athletes with marks ranked inside the top 30 in the nation in their respective events.

Abby Knouff, Pole Vault- 4.17m / 13' 8.25" (23th)
Spirit Morgan, High Jump- 1.79m / 5' 10.5" (30th)
