ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Connor McNeely collected his third top-10 finish by tying for sixth to lead the Cincinnati men's golf team at the Johnnie-O.
The Bearcats concluded their two-event stay along the Atlantic coast by coming within three strokes of fourth place.
"I'm very disappointed in our performance today and really felt we had a great opportunity," head coach Doug Martin said. "I thought we were in a great place, and it would've been tough to beat Texas or Notre Dame the way they were playing, but I was very disappointed in our overall team performance."
It was a nice boost for McNeely after having his lowest finish of the season to start the spring, returning to fall form.
Gingerich's 12th-place performance was his best of the season. His 3-under 69 in Monday's nightcap was his lowest round, and the 71 was his best finale of the year as well.
"I'm really proud of Ty and Connor and their weeks for both being top-10 and top-15," Martin said. "I am frustrated with our inability right now to get a fourth score, something we've got to continue to work on. We have a very quick turnaround and leaving on Saturday for Houston for the All-American. We need to really get things continued to work to get things cleaned up as we move into the middle of our spring semester."
That All-American event, hosted by the University of Houston, is a two-day event that begins Monday.
