HOUSTON – Connor McNeely continued his ascent with a 4-under 68 to close out the All-American Intercollegiate, and the Cincinnati men's golf team tied for 15th.
McNeely finished 29th out of the heavy field's 100 golfers. His final-round score matched Rylan Wotherspoon's first to be one stroke off the lowest of the week. The two Bearcats accounted for two of the six 67 or 68 scores of the 300 total rounds played.
"Great playing today by Connor McNeely, who really battled hard the last two rounds after a tough first round," head coach Doug Martin said. "This week can be summed up in two areas. We played the par-fives as bad as we have all year and the fifth and sixth holes being very demanding 460-plus-yard par-fours, and we played them in plus-27 for three rounds. I wasn't sure that was possible."
Par 3 was the best slot for the Bearcats, ranking 10th, followed by 11th on Par 4.
"We have a break before we head to Vanderbilt," Martin said. "We have a lot to correct before we tee it up again in early April. I still believe in this group and know good play is just around the corner."
Jackson Finney's first time in the lineup saw him bounce back from a 78 and 83 to card a 74.
Ryan Ford and Ty Gingerich each had stronger finishes with a 1-over 73, each of their best rounds of the week.
Cincinnati resumes play April 5-7 in Franklin, Tenn., for Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship.
