HOUSTON – Rylan Wotherspoon's 4-under 68 in the first round tied for the lead among the 100-person field to highlight Cincinnati's Monday in the All-American Intercollegiate.
The Bearcats are 16th out of the 20-team field.
Wotherspoon's score matched a season-low set twice previously. He had just one bogey in that stretch, and it had him tied for first after the opening round.
Conner McNeely rallied with a 10-stroke improvement to an even-72 in the second round, Cincinnati's lowest of that frame. He rebounded from the Bearcats' highest score to their second-lowest.
"Great playing by Rylan in the morning at Conner in the afternoon," head coach Doug Martin said. "Other than that, the golf was poor on an extremely difficult day to post a score. Sustained winds of 20-25 mph winds from the North made the course extremely challenging. Our poor execution on into-the-wind holes were just too much for us to recover from. Tomorrow is all about self pride and how quickly can we bounce back and post a good round."
Ryan Ford, Ty Gingerich and Jackson Finney follow in order.
Tuesday's third round continues here.
