Gingerich's 5-under 139 marked his best 36-hole total of the season. His 12th place finish at the Johnnie-O stands as his highest of the season. He had just one bogey in the first round and is only four strokes back of the lead.
Connor McNeely and Rylan Wotherspoon each saw round-to-round improvements and are tied for 18th. McNeely has three top-10 finishes this year, while Wotherspoon's best was 12th at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate in September.
Auburn leads the field by 23 strokes. Cincinnati's 564 is ahead of Ole Miss (565) and Augusta (568).
The Bearcats have saved their best round for last in five tournaments, including the last two, which were both a combined 38 strokes better than Round 2.
