TRINITY, Texas – Three rounds are in the books, and Ty Gingerich has reclaimed sole possession of first place at the Big 12 Championships heading into Wednesday's finale.

The fifth-year senior played a bogey-free circuit and now leads Oklahoma State's Preston Stout by two strokes.

Ryan Ford's 1-under 71 was his best of the week to keep him in a tie for 25th. He also enters Wednesday having a pair of 68s in each of his last two tournament finales, something he would love to replicate.

"We were better today," head coach Doug Martin said. "Ty's played great and is leading the tournament right now. Our biggest thing that has hurt us is not getting a lot of help from the back end. When you're playing golf at this level, you can't count 75s, 77s and 79s as we've done the last two rounds. Today was better, but we still have a lot of progress to go."

Sans its 18-over second round, Cincinnati has been right in the thicket. Its 2-over today has it in 11th place, jumping past Iowa State and within 10 strokes of sixth.

"The big thing is sticking to our game plan and doing the things we talked about," Martin said. "It's so important that we drive the ball in play. We did that the first and third rounds, and today we had one double bogey. We had one double and one triple in the first, but we had a triple and seven doubles in the second all because we drove it out of position. You have to put it in play so you can be aggressive on the fairway."

Cole Imig tapped in for William McDonald and managed a 3-over 75. Connor McNeely and Rylan Wotherspoon added the same score as well. For McNeely, it was a four-stroke bump from his Monday nightcap, and Wotherspoon's mark was his best of the event.

Wednesday's finale can be followed on Golfstat and seen live on ESPN+ from 1:30-5:30 p.m. ET.
