FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Three Bearcats are tied for 20th after the first day of the Mason Rudolph Championship, and the Cincinnati men's golf team is tied for eighth out of 14 teams.

Connor McNeely had four birdies to lead the trio, while William McDonald had three and Ty Gingerich had a pair. For McDonald, it matched his lowest for any of his opening rounds this year, and he was 2-under over the final eight holes.

Ryan Ford (74) and Rylan Wotherspoon (75) round it out at 41st and 50th, respectively.

The field is a packed one. Cincinnati's 290 is five strokes behind fourth and seven from second. Vanderbilt, the host, is seven strokes ahead for the top spot. The Bearcats have three tournaments this year in which it lowered its second-round score from its first.

The Bearcats were consistently in the middle for its par 3s, 4s and 5s, ranking higher as it got higher.
