CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati swimming and diving head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle announced the hire of assistant coach Emily Hetzer on Tuesday.

"I am thrilled to have Emily join our staff," Commons-DiSalle said. "Her experience as an All-American collegiate athlete and her previous coaching experience will add tremendous depth to our coaching staff. I believe she has a very bright future as a coach and will be a valuable contributor to our success in the Big 12."

Hetzer joins the staff after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Georgia Southern University from 2023-24. In this role, she assisted in coaching the swim and dive team, as well as training the student-athletes in endurance-based training. Hetzer coordinated all recruiting efforts and team development.

Hetzer competed for Auburn University where she qualified for the NCAA Championship all five years of her career. She qualified for the Olympic Trials and was a four-time All-American. She is currently ranked among the top-10 all-time marks in Auburn program history in the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyles as well as the 400 individual medley.

Hetzer graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science in August 2022, then added a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Psychology in May 2023.

Alongside her athletic success, she was a volunteer with the Lee County Special Olympics, as well as a member of Auburn's Student Athlete Advisory Committee for three years, where she held the position of co-chair of the community service committee for three years.
