EUGENE, Ore. — University of Cincinnati track and field junior Dominique Hall completed the first five events of the men's decathlon on Wednesday, day one of the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Making his NCAA Outdoor Championship debut, Hall ended the day sitting 14th overall with 3921 points through the first five events of the decathlon.
Hall began his day by placing 15th in the 100m with a time of 10.95 and scored 872 points.
The Alabaster, Ala., native followed up that performance by placing 15th in the long jump with a mark of 7.06m / 23' 2", scoring 828 points and finishing 23rd overall in the shot put with a mark of 12.12m / 39' 9.25", scoring 614 points.
Heading into two the final two events of the day, Hall was ranked 18th with 2314 points.
Hall showcased his leaping ability once again in the high jump portion as he finished 13th overall, clearing a bar height of 1.89m / 6' 2.25" and scored 705 points.
The junior closed out day one by clocking the seventh fastest 400m time of the day crossing the finish line at the 48.14 mark and bringing his point total to 3,921.
He entered the competition ranked 16th in the nation and is the first Bearcat to compete in the decathlon since former Bearcat Damien Berthenet did in 2021. The last Bearcat to earn All-American honors in the decathlon is current associate head coach Chris Wineberg (2004).
Day two of the decathlon competition will resume tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. ET with the 110m hurdles, the first of the last five events. The complete schedule of events can be found here.
