CINCINNATI – Redshirt senior offensive lineman Luke Kandra was named a preseason All-American by ESPN this week.
The Cincinnati native was placed on ESPN's second team.
Kandra has now earned preseason All-America honors from ESPN, Walter Camp, Athlon Sports, and Phil Steele. He was also named to the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy, which is awarded annually to the top interior lineman in the country.
A Walter Camp and AP All-American last season, Kandra ranked as the third-best Power Five guard (81.8) according to PFF while starting all 12 games and leading UC with 79 knockdowns in 2023. He returns as the country's top-graded P4 right guard in 2024 and will anchor an offensive line that returns all five starters. Cincinnati finished fifth nationally in rushing (217.1 ypg) in 2023 behind Kandra and running back Corey Kiner (1,047 yards), who also returns.
Kandra earned All-Big 12 distinctions last season and was named a preseason All-Big 12 selection heading into the 2024 campaign.
