CINCINNATI – Ryan Ford's six-under 65 to start the day launched him into a second-place spot after the first 36 holes, and Cincinnati is in third after Monday's opener of the Bearcat Invitational.

Admission is open to the public for Tuesday's final round.

Ford had a bogey-free morning and was even for the afternoon nightcap. He is two strokes behind Louisville's Sebastian Moss (8-under) on the individual leaderboard.

"I think Coldstream was at its best today with the weather we've had the past couple of weeks," head coach Doug Martin said. "The firm conditions made for an extremely difficult golf course. We got off to a pretty poor start, with the exception of Ryan Ford. We battled back throughout the first round, not really sure how we got to 1-under, but we did. Cole Imig was 5-over through eight holes and fought back to shoot 1-over."

Cole Imig tied for 12th with some strong, consistent play that included a 1-under 70 to close it. He had a 70 to open the Visit Knoxville Collegiate that was his lowest as a Bearcat in his one-plus years.

"The second round, we had it going again," Martin said. "We were in good position and gave away five shots over the last two holes, and instead of being two back, we're seven back. That's a little frustrating, but tomorrow's a new day. These guys will come out fighting. We need to do a better job on par-5s, and especially green-side we were in position for a lot of birdies on those but played even-par. Overall, it's another opportunity for us to learn tomorrow and try to win a golf tournament."

Michael Senn III was one-under through his first 16 holes and is tied for 30th.

Leo Wessel and Harrison Sims were tied for 35th among the five Bearcats competing individually.

Last year's event saw Cincinnati lead the pack after the first day, also 36 holes, before finishing fourth. It won the 2022 edition of the event, which included Sam Jean taking the individual title.
