Bearcats Draw Knights, Secure Spot in Big 12 Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program secured its spot in the Big 12 Conference Tournament after battling to a 2-2 draw against UCF in the regular season finale on Friday Night.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program secured its spot in the Big 12 Conference Tournament after battling to a 2-2 draw against UCF in the regular season finale on Friday Night.  

Due to the outcome of the Baylor vs. Iowa State game, Cincinnati clinched the 12th spot in this year's tournament. 

The Bearcats conclude the regular season 6-8-4 (2-6-3), while the Knights' finish 3-6-6 (1-5-4).  

Cincinnati jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with a goal from fifth-year Ellie Flower in the third minute. Fellow fifth-year Lauren Bastian followed suite nailing one in from just across midfield in the 11th minute.

Both teams knocked off seven shots in the first half, with UCF taking the 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

UCF was able to get two goals past fifth year goalkeeper Anna Rexford within five minutes of each other.

In the final seconds, freshman Rylee Felton went one-on-one against the UCF goalkeeper, but her shot was ultimately blocked.

Cincinnati will travel to Kansas City, Mo. For the 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championships. More details on seeding and games will be finalized after tonight's remaining games are concluded.
