CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program cruised past Houston, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon inside Gettler Stadium.
The Bearcats improved to 6-6-1 (2-4) while the Cougars fell to 3-8-1 (0-6). Cincinnati's four goal performance marked the most in a single game since the 2022 season.
Senior Paige Miller opened up the scoring with a pass from Fran Stables to grab her first goal of the season in the 38th minute.
Cincinnati put its foot on the gas to begin the second half with two goals. Junior Maddie Swingle sent a header into the net and earned the third of her career. Fifth year Ellie Flower joined in on the scoring fun and sent one in, also with her head, in the 54th minute.
Houston found a quick opportunity and notched their lone goal of the game in the 57th minute.
UC continued to dominate possession and secured the win when senior Emma Schmelzer saw an open slot and nailed one in, recording her first on the year.
The Bearcats boasted four different goal-scorers for the first time this season, while also surpassing their previous total team goals of 17 from last season.
Cincinnati will head back on the road to face Iowa State on Thursday and Oklahoma State on Sunday before returning home on Oct. 17.
