CINCINNATI – Four Bearcats notched new meet records as the University of Cincinnati track and field program held its 44th annual Red vs. Black Intrasquad inside the Armory Fieldhouse on Friday.
For the first time in intrasquad history, the Red and Black teams tied, 74-74. The men's Red team narrowly defeated the men's Black team 35-34, while the women's Black team squeezed passed the women's Red team, 40-39. The final results from the meet can be found HERE.
Senior Abby Knouff (pole vault), sophomore Oliver Mayer (weight throw), and graduate students Fred Moudani-Likibi (shot put) and Amanda Ngandu Ntumba (shot put) each broke meet records.
A 2024 Second Team All-American, Knouff picked up right where she left off last season, setting a new women's pole vault meet record. The Tallmadge, Ohio native bested the her own previous record (4.04m) with a height of 4.25m.
Moudani-Likibi beat the previous shot put record (19.12m), which he set in 2022, with a toss of 19.23m. The Savigny-Le-Temple, France native missed all of last season due to injury and is looking to return to his First Team All-American form.
In her Bearcat debut, Ngandu Ntumba launched a 16.12m throw to beat out the previous record of 16.11m. The prior record was set in 2017 by Hall of Fame Bearcat and Olympic silver medalist, Annette Echikunwoke.
Mayer, won the men's weight throw with a mark of 19.15m, besting former Bearcat Noah Thomas's meet record of 18.81m, which was set last season.
None of the times or marks from the meet are official and do not count towards NCAA Championship qualification.
The Bearcats officially begin the 2024-25 indoor track and field season next Friday, Dec. 13, at the Indiana Early Bird Meet in Bloomington, Ind.
