Bearcats Shine at Rod McCravy Invitational

The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program recorded five event victories, 15 UC all-time top 10 marks and 17 personal bests at the Rod McCravy Invitational over the weekend.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program recorded five event victories, 15 UC all-time top 10 marks and 17 personal bests at the Rod McCravy Invitational over the weekend.

Freshman distance runner Christina Allen delivered an impressive performance, securing two event victories in the 800m and 1000m. Allen dominated the 800m with a winning time of 2:15.67 and claimed the 1000m title with a time of 2:54.64. The River Edge, N.J. native now holds the fifth-fastest 1000m time in program history.

A Kingston, Jamaica native, graduate student Astley Davis was victorious in the triple jump, reaching 15.80m. Davis owns the second furthest distance in program history and currently the third longest distance in the nation.

Sophomore Davenae Fagan took home a victory after running a 23.87 200m dash, the fifth-fastest time in the country. The Stone Mountain, Ga., native now holds the fourth-quickest time in Cincinnati history. Fagan has been etching her name all over the program record book, just two meets into the season.

The Bearcats excelled in the 300m dash. Fagan took third with a time of 37.95, the second-fastest in Cincinnati history. Junior Kya Epps wasn't far behind, clocking a time of 38.09 in sixth place. Epps's time is good for No. 11 in the Nation and No. 3 in program history.

Sophomore Gianni Allwein and graduate student Orry Willems set top-three program history marks in their respective events. Allwein captured first place, logging a time a 2:24.80 in the 1000m, the second-fastest time in program history. Willems's 19.58m toss in the weight throw ranks third all-time.

The Bearcats return to the state of Indiana at the end of the month to compete in the Crossroads of America Invitational. The Invitational will be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center in Indianapolis from Jan. 24-25.
