TicketsCINCINNATI, Ohio – University of Cincinnati football offensive lineman Luke Kandra was named a Second Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
Kandra is the 14th Bearcat in program history to be named an Academic All-American and the seventh since 2020. James Smith (Second Team, 2020), Desmond Ridder (First Team, 2021), Alec Pierce (First Team, 2021), Lorenz Metz (Second Team, 2021), Bryan Cook (Second Team, 2021), and Wilson Huber (Second Team, 2022) are other recent honorees.
Kandra recently concluded his illustrious college career at Cincinnati, starting his final 24 games at right guard. He was the top-rated right guard in the Big 12 according to PFF during his time as a Bearcat and he earned several All-America honors during his career. Most notably, he was named an All-American by Walter Camp and the Associated Press in 2023.
Off the field, Kandra graduated with his MBA this past December, posting a 3.65 GPA as a graduate student.
The Academic All-America teams are voted on each year by sports information directors across all levels of college athletics. To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA and be a major contributor for their team on the field.
