CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team cruised past Robert Morris, 18-4, on Saturday afternoon inside Nippert Stadium.
The Bearcats, now 1-2 on the season, boasted nine different goal scorers. Graduate student Lauren Ottensmeyer and junior Camryn Callaghan led the way each recording four. Cincinnati outshot their opponent 29-9, including 24 shots on goal to Robert Morris' seven.
Sophomore Hailey Joy Simpson quickly found her rhythm, securing her first hat trick of the season. Freshman Paige Selhorn continued to impress with two goals and three assists.
Cincinnati's defense shined, limiting Robert Morris to just one goal per quarter and forcing 26 total turnovers. Sophomore Ally Keith and freshman Alyse Keels each contributed with two caused turnovers.
Although Robert Morris scored first, Cincinnati dominated the rest of the game. Selhorn opened UC's scoring, followed by back-to-back goals from Simpson for an early lead.
Cincinnati didn't look back as they scored four-straight to grab a 7-1 lead heading into the second quarter. To close out the first half, the duo of Callaghan and Ottensmeyer went back and forth each recording two goals in the Bearcats' 4-0 scoring run.
Junior Sophia Passa earned her second-straight game with a goal, extending Cincinnati's led to 12. Senior Lindsay Sparago joined the scoring with her first goal of the season, securing the Bearcats' commanding victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Hailey Darko secured the win with two saves in 45 minutes of play, while freshman Bella Kerr added her first collegiate save in the final 15 minutes.
Cincinnati will continue their home stand against Marquette on Thursday at Nippert Stadium. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
