Two Program Records Broken and Ten Event Victories Captured as Cincinnati Shines at Husker Invitational

The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program recorded two program records, ten event victories, nine UC all-time top 10 marks and 14 personal bests over the weekend at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program recorded two program records, ten event victories, nine UC all-time top 10 marks and 14 personal bests over the weekend at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Graduate students Justin Abrams and Amanda Ngandu Ntumba set new program records. Abrams thrived in the heptathlon winning two events en route to a new program record of 5832 points, while Ngandu Ntumba passed the hall of fame Bearcat Annette Echikunwoke to claim the shot-put program record. The Saint-Étienne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes native had a toss of 16.78m.

Sophomore Juliette Laracuente-Huebner dominated in the pentathlon as she secured first place, setting a new personal best with 4154 points. The Marengo, Ohio native picked up wins in the 60m hurdle, high jump and 800m on her way to the win.

The Bearcats made history in the mile, with three student-athletes breaking into the program's all-time top 10. Junior Claire Curtsinger, senior Jodie Pierce, and junior Gwen Stare secured their places in the record book with standout performances. Curtsinger ran the third-fastest mile in program history at 4:49.06, while Pierce claimed the sixth spot with a time of 4:51.42. Stare followed closely, recording the seventh-fastest mile at 4:51.58.

The Bearcats head to Nashville, Tenn., to participate at the Music City Challenge. The meet is scheduled for Feb. 14-15.
