CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati men's golf team will look to build off its Johnnie-O title in Georgia last week when it heads to the opposite coast for the Duck Invitational in Eugene, Oregon.
This is the program's first regular-season West Coast trip of Doug Martin's 16 seasons as the head coach, which will continue next week in Arizona for a Wyoming-hosted event. Cincinnati also competed in Las Vegas for the 2023 NCAA Regionals.
The competing teams at the Eugene Country Club are No. 36 Oregon, No. 40 Little Rock, No. 45 Colorado State, No. 46 Grand Canyon, UTEP, Oregon State, Saint Mary's, Wyoming, San Jose State, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Idaho, Southern Illinois and Washington.
Ryan Ford, Connor McNeely, Leo Wessel, Michael Senn III and William McDonald are up for the Bearcats, the same lineup as the team's tournament title. UC fought back from an 8-over first round, marred by an eight-hour wind delay, to post a 9-under second that served as the finale, claiming the crown by a stroke.
Ford remains the team stroke-average leader at 71.29. Senn has jumped to second at 72.07. McNeely tied for sixth to lead UC last week (with three others tying for 13th), after finishing 70th in his previous outing and second at the Rod Myers Invitational prior to that.
