EUGENE, Ore. — The Cincinnati men's golf team saw an eight-stroke improvement within its two rounds today to sit in ninth at the Duck Invitational, which features five top-50 teams out of 15 overall.
Freshman Leo Wessel continued his consistent play with a 71 and 70 to sit at 1-under and lead the Bearcats in a tie for 15th. He had only three bogeys and was 13th in last week's Johnnie-O championship run.
Connor McNeely is 27th and produced an eagle early in his second round on No. 13. William McDonald lit it up in the nightcap with a team-low 3-under 68 to move to 36th. He was 6-over in the morning round and had three birdies on the front nine of the second.
Michael Senn III and Ryan Ford rounded out the scoring at Nos. 44 and 64.
Cincinnati has saved its best round for last in every tournament this season, which includes its season-low 271 in the Johnnie-O following a 288. The Bearcats also had the best par-five score at 4.53 and 14-under.
