AUSTIN, Texas — University of Cincinnati track and field senior Abby Knouff set a new pole vault school record at the Texas Relays on Saturday.
Knoff continued to impress after coming off an All-America indoor season. The Tallmadge, Ohio native, in her first outdoor meet of the season, achieved the highest pole vault in program history after recording an impressive mark of 4.37m. The previous record was set back in 2013 by Mackenzie Fields when she had a vault of 4.35m.
Two other Bearcats came close to setting program records. Graduate students Amanda Ngandu Ntumba and Astley Davis delivered strong performances in their respective events.
Ngandu Nutumba earned fourth place after a hurl of 16.27m in the shot put, the second furthest mark in program history. She narrowly trails Hall of Fame Bearcat Annette Echikunwoke's record-setting throw of 16.79m.
Davis leaped 16.02m to claim fourth place in the triple jump. This mark moved the Kingston, Jamaica native to second all-time in UC history. Davis is only slightly behind the six-time All-American Al Lanier, who jumped a program record 16.32m back in 1973.
Graduate student Fred Moudani-Likibi showed out in the shot put as he garnered second place with a toss of 19.51m.
