GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team fell, 20-2, to No. 4 Florida on Saturday afternoon inside Dizney Stadium.
The Gators jumped out to a dominant 8–0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Bearcats struggled to find offensive rhythm early and couldn't keep pace with the nationally ranked Gators
Junior Camryn Callaghan and sophomore Hailey Joy Simpson were the lone goal scorers for Cincinnati, each scoring in the second and third quarters respectively. Callaghan's goal was assisted by freshman Paige Selhorn.
Goalkeeper Hailey Darko made six saves in 41 minutes of action, before freshman Bella Kerr added one more in relief.
Despite facing 36 total shots, Cincinnati's defense forced 12 turnovers and collected eight ground balls, showing some grit against a relentless Florida offense.
Cincinnati returns to Nippert Stadium to close out the regular season and celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, April 26. Opening draw is set for noon.
