TULSA, Okla. – Freshman Leo Wessel led the way for the Bearcats at the Big 12 Championships, finishing the 72-hole week in 21st place at the Southern Hills Country Club on Thursday.
The Bearcats concluded the championship event in 11th.
Wessel shot a one-over par (71) in the final round. He notched 12 birdies over the four-round event to cap off an impressive debut in the conference tournament.
Moving up 12 spots after a one-under-par performance on the final day, junior Ryan Ford had a phenomenal final round on the links to place 43rd. The Westfield, Ind., native holed an eagle on the par-5, 656-yard fifth hole. Ford shined on the back nine as he earned three birdies to shoot one under par, a 69 on the round.
Redshirt senior William McDonald placed 41st, propelled by an impressive round two. The Oklahoma City, Okla., native earned five birdies in the second round (-1) to highlight his week.
Junior Cole Imig subbed in on the final day and managed a 76. Michael Senn III teed off the prior three days, where he went: 80-75-76.
