The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program opens the 2025 season against Eastern Michigan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti, Mich.

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program opens the 2025 season against Eastern Michigan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti, Mich. 

The Bearcats will then travel back to Cincinnati for their home opener against Toledo on Sunday, Aug. 17 inside Gettler Stadium.

Cincinnati's match versus Eastern Michigan will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.

// SERIES HISTORY

  • Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan have met once in their history, with the Bearcats holding a 1-0 edge. 
  • The two teams faced off last year at Gettler Stadium, resulting in a 3-1 win for Cincinnati. Rylee Felton and Ellie Flower notched goals for the Bearcats. 

// RETURNING STRENGTH

  • Cincinnati brings back eight starters from last season, including Emma Gioffre, Faith Broering, and Megan Smith, each of whom started all 19 matches. Twelve of UC’s 17 returners appeared in double-digit games for the Red & Black.
  • While the Bearcats will miss five-year starting goalkeeper Anna Rexford, they return their entire defensive line, featuring Broering, Oubs, Swingle, and Daveler

// TRANSFERS TO NOTE

  • Transfers Miller, Cochran, Yon and Kimwemwe bring experience to the 2025 crew and look to make a big impact on the field
  • Kimwemwe, a 5-foot-3 forward, appeared in eight games for the Bulls, where she recorded five shots (two on goal) and one assist
  • Cochran, a 5-foot-8 midfielder, made 28 appearances for the Cardinals in her two years there, securing three goals and 21 shots (12 on goal)
  • Miller, a 5-foot-9 redshirt senior goalkeeper, made three appearances with one start at UVA
  • Yon, a sophomore defender, did not see action her freshman year at Minnesota

// MILESTONE WATCH

  • Graduate student Ellie Flower is just three appearances shy of reaching 50 career matches. She also needs nine goals to hit the 20-goal milestone.
