BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – The Cincinnati men’s golf team posted another top-five finish, its third of the fall, with a fifth-place standing at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate Monday at Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich. San Jose State won the tournament at 15-under, followed by Princeton at 10-under, St. Mary’s at 9-under, Michigan at 5-under and the Bearcats at 4-under.
The Bearcats held a two-stroke lead going into the final round after a blistering 10-under second round, but struggled to get anything going on their way to a final-round 3-over 283.
Senior Ryan Ford earned his second consecutive top-10 finish, tying for fourth at 6-under for the tournament after a final-round 1-over 71, while sophomore Leo Wessel used a 1-under 69 in the final round to tie for 14th at 1-under.
Senior Connor McNeely carded an even-par 70 in the final round to tie for 30th at 2-over for the event. Senior Rylan Wotherspoon and sophomore Connor Cassano rounded out the Bearcat lineup in a tie for 41st at 5-over. Playing as an individual, freshman Brayden Miller tied for 52nd at 8-over-par.
As a team, Cincinnati ranked second with two eagles and fourth with 54 birdies. The Bearcats also ranked second in par-5 scoring at 10-under. Wotherspoon led the 75-competitor field in par-5 scoring at 5-under, while Ford tied for second in par-3 scoring at 3-under. Wessel’s 15 birdies ranked third.
