Resilient Bearcats Lead Heading into Final Round at Jim DeLapa Collegiate

In search of back-to-back wins, the Cincinnati men’s golf team responded from a 3-over-par opening round to go 10-under-par in the second 18 of the Jim DeLapa Collegiate Sunday afternoon at Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich.

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – In search of back-to-back wins, the Cincinnati men’s golf team responded from a 3-over-par opening round to go 10-under-par in the second 18 of the Jim DeLapa Collegiate Sunday afternoon at Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich. The Cats carded a season-best 10-under 270 in the afternoon to carry a two-stroke lead over Princeton and a three-stroke advantage over Michigan, St. Mary’s and San Jose State into Monday.

Senior Ryan Ford carded a 2-under 68 in the opening round and backed that up with a blistering 5-under 65 in the second round to stand in solo third at 7-under, three strokes back of the lead of Michigan’s Dean Muratore. Sophomore Leo Wessel also bounced back from an up and down first round, posting a 2-under 68 to climb into a tie for 19th with fellow sophomore Connor Cassano, who went 71-69 to also sit at even-par.

Senior Connor McNeely sits in a tie for 30th, posting a 2-under 68 after a 4-over 74, while fellow senior Rylan Wotherspoon is also tied for 30th, carding a 2-over 72 in the first round before an even-par 70 in the second. Playing as an individual, freshman Brayden Miller responded from a 6-over 76 in the first round to post an even-par 70 Sunday afternoon to sit in a tie for 55th.
