GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- The Cincinnati men's golf team jumped six spots, the highest in the field, in Tuesday's second round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate, helped by Leo Wessel's 3-under 68.
Wessel is now seventh after leaping 25 spots, helped by one bogey on the day. Not to be outdone, Ryan Ford jumped 19 notches to 13th after going 1-under on the challenging course.
Four out of five Bearcats improved their score, including Connor McNeely by nine strokes and Rylan Wotherspoon by three.
Cincinnati is tied with Florida State and Missouri for sixth at 582, while Cal is fifth at 580. The Bearcats collected the fourth under-par round of the field, with two of those being held by first and second-place Alabama and Notre Dame, respectively.
While UC did have seven tournaments last year in which it second round score was better than its first, the 16-stroke improvement only trailed its 17 that allowed it to win the Johnnie-O in March.
