DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – The Cincinnati men’s golf team concluded its final fall tournament in seventh place at The Bryson Invitational Wednesday at Daniel Island Club. The competition was the last of a five-tournament fall slate that saw the Bearcats finish fourth or better in three.
Senior Ryan Ford notched his third-straight round in the 60s and a program-record 10th-career Top-10 finish in a tie for second. The Westfield, Ind., native went bogey-free for his final 39 holes of the tournament and birdied two of his last five down the stretch but was unable to withstand a late charge from Vanderbilt’s Ryan Downes, who carded an 8-under 64 for the one-shot victory at 13-under.
Sophomore Leo Wessel overcame a double-bogey at the par-4 first hole to shoot an even-par 72 in the final round to tie for 26th, while freshman Brayden Miller carded a 1-over 73 to tie for 41st in his first tournament in the Bearcat lineup.
Seniors Rylan Wotherspoon and Connor McNeely each recorded a final-round 2-over 72 to tie for 59th and 67th, respectively.
For the tournament, Cincinnati led the 15-team field with 185 pars and tied for second in par-3 scoring at 5-over. Individually, Ford tied for the tournament best in par-4 scoring at 8-under, while Miller tied for second with 41 pars.
