Cincinnati Defeats Oklahoma State on Thursday Night

The University of Cincinnati women’s soccer team defeated Oklahoma State 1-0 on Thursday night at Gettler Stadium.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s soccer team defeated Oklahoma State 1-0 on Thursday night at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats improve to 4-7-6 while the Cowgirls move to 4-11-2 on their season.

The Bearcats set the tone early as junior Molly Cochran recorded the first shot just less than two minutes into play.

The Bearcats offense heated up in the 37th minute with four straight shots from Ellie Flower, Rylee Felton and Emma Gioffre. Felton’s second strike found the back of the net to take the lead going into the half.

Following the break, Cincinnati maintained control with nine shots and limited Oklahoma State to five. Both teams were held scoreless the rest of the match, giving the Bearcats a 1-0 victory.

Felton led the team with a season-high four shots (four on goal). Graduate student Laura Zemberyova added a season-high of three shots, while sophomore Karson Yon and freshman Bryana Gaynor each earned their first career assists.

The Bearcats outshot the Cowgirls 17-8 with six shots on goal.

Camryn Miller, Faith Broering, Anna Barbr and Gioffre all played the full 90 on the pitch.

Miller marked her seventh shutout of the season.
