The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program completed a tri-meet against Miami (FL) and Florida Atlantic University on Monday evening in Miami, Fla., at the Norman Whitten Pool.

MIAMI, Fla.– The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program completed a tri-meet against Miami (FL) and Florida Atlantic University on Monday evening in Miami, Fla., at the Norman Whitten Pool.

The women's team led with a victory over Florida Atlantic University, 117-40, while the men’s team fell, 78-81. The women’s team was defeated by Miami (FL), 70-89.

Cincinnati started out with two straight wins in the 200-yard medley relay. The women’s team of Ellie Schrank, Joleigh Crye, Kate Mardis and Lindi Worrell capped a time of 1:43.15, and the men’s team of Sawyer Tapp, Kyle Bumgardner, Owen Chiles and Conner Hogan led with a time of 1:32.32.

Crye led the women’s team with three event wins in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Worrell (1:39.10), 150-yard breaststroke (1:43.46) and in the 50-yard breaststroke (30.22). Michelle Morgan also had a standout performance claiming two event wins in the 150-yard freestyle (1:24.65) and the 50-yard freestyle (25.35).

Aiden Gerst led the men’s side with two event wins in the 150-yard backstroke (1:21.31) and the 50-yard backstroke, while also grabbing second in the 200-yard backstroke relay with Levi Hansen (1:36.33). Benson Wong and Owen Chiles picked up one event win each. Wong placed first in the 150-yard breaststroke (1:33.47) and Chiles took first in the 150-yard event (1:18.61).

Cincinnati claimed 14 event wins total.

Up next, the Bearcats will travel to Houston, Texas for the Big 12 Dual Meet East Championships on Jan 16-17 at the CRWC Natatorium.
