GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Cincinnati men’s and women’s swimming and diving program finished the last day of Big 12 Championships inside Greensboro Aquatic Center on Saturday, Feb 28.
Prelims started at 10 a.m. including the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, women’s platform dive and the 400-yard free relay.
After prelims, four Bearcats got into the A-finals, eight made it to the B-finals and five got into the C-finals to compete in the evening.
The highlight of the night came from freshman Aiden Gerst securing a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:42.04.
Freshman Taira Vroom took eighth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:41.32.
Benson Wong and Kyle Bumgardner both earned podium-finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke, Wong claimed sixth (1:55.81) while Bumgardner recorded eighth (1:56.79).
The women’s 400 free relay team of Kate Mardis, Joleigh Crye, Lindi Worrell and Vroom claimed third with a time of 3:18.02.
Langely Petersen tallied a sixth-place finish on the platform dive with a score of 232.85.
Cincinnati ended the last day with six podium placements.
