EUGENE, Ore. – The Cincinnati men’s golf team sits eighth at 11-over after 36 holes of the Oregon Duck Invitational Monday at Eugene Country Club. The Bearcats, who were 9-over after the morning session before a 2-over round in the afternoon Monday, will look to climb the leaderboard when final-round play begins at 11:30 a.m. ET Tuesday.
Senior Ryan Ford leads the Bearcats in a tie for 11th at even-par, while sophomore Leo Wessel is a stroke back in a tie for 13th. Freshman Brayden Miller sits in a tie for 23rd at 3-over, while sophomore Connor Cassano and senior Connor McNeely round out the Cincinnati lineup in a tie for 44th and 51st at 7-over and 8 over, respectively. Senior Rylan Wotherspoon, playing as an individual, is tied with McNeely at 8-over.
Ford started his opening round with two bogeys in his first three holes, followed with five birdies in six holes in the middle of his round and closed with three bogeys in his final four holes for an even-par 71. He then recorded three birdies and a trio of bogeys for a second-consecutive 71 in the second round.
Wessel, who had two bogeys and two doubles on his way to a 4-over 75 in the morning, notched five birdies against two bogeys for a 3-under 68 to vault him 38 spots on the leaderboard. Miller posted a 1-over 72 in the first round before a 2-over 73 in the afternoon.
McNeely and Cassano each carded a 4-over 75 in the morning. Cassano bested his score by a stroke in the afternoon, while McNeely matched it with a 4-over 75. Wotherspoon, who opened with a 2-over 73, posted a 6-over 77 in the afternoon session.
As a team, Cincinnati leads the field in par-4 scoring at 16-over and is third in par 3-scoring at 6 over, but has just been unable to capitalize on the par-5’s, sitting tied for 11th at 2-under. Individually, Miller is tied for third in the field in par-3 scoring at 1-under.
