CINCINNATI Jackson Smith tied it for the Bearcats in the bottom of the seventh on a triple to the gap, but Kansas touched Cincinnati for nine runs, including a grand slam after taking the lead, to take the series with a 13-6 win on a balmy Sunday afternoon.
 
Cincinnati (20-10, 4-5 Big 12) entered 1-1 in rubber games on the year. 
 
Logan Knight, who on Tuesday made his first relief appearance after 35 starts between North Dakota State and UC, allowed only one run over four innings and 50 pitches to pace the Bearcats' bullpen.
 
Carson Marsh, Cincinnati's win leader with a 4-1 record out of 18 innings (all in the bullpen) threw seven pitches as the Bearcats' first reliever in the fourth. He exited due to injury, and Hudson Johnson needed only one pitch to retire KU on a flyout to center.
 
Jack Natili collected RBI singles in each of his first two at-bats, and Smith also doubled in a run to account for a two-extra-base-hit day.
 
UC's runs in the ninth included an RBI single by Ryan Tyranski and a Smith sac fly.
 
Cincinnati's homestand continues Tuesday with Wright State at 6 p.m.
