CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team will welcome San Diego State to Nippert Stadium this Friday, April 24, to celebrate Senior Day, with the opening draw scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
The Bearcats hold an 8-8 overall record and are looking for their first win in Big 12 play. San Diego State (2-12, 0-4 Big 12) arrives in Cincinnati having dropped its last five contests, most recently falling 15-8 to Arizona State.
The contest will be available to watch via ESPN+.

Prior to the start of the match, Cincinnati will host a pre-game ceremony to honor seven seniors for their contributions to the program: Mia Federovich, Kennedy Koehler, Emma Mielke, Sophia Passa, Gillian Smith, Lexie Wolfe and Thea Work.

Sophomore Paige Selhorn continues to establish herself as one of the nation’s premier offensive threats. The Westbury, N.Y., native sits fifth in the country in total points (90) and ranks 13th in assists (43). Within the Big 12, she leads the conference in points per game (5.6) and ranks second in assists per game (2.7). In just her second season, Selhorn has already accumulated 155 career points, which is the fifth-most in program history.
// DOMINATING THE DRAW
Led by Morgan Handzel, the Bearcats have dominated the draw circle this season. Handzel has totaled 147 draw controls — 9.2 per game, which ranks 10th nationally and second in the Big 12. Her season highlights include a program-record 24 draws against Eastern Michigan, tied for the most in NCAA history. As a unit, the Bearcats average 14.3 draws won per contest, posting a .587 draw percentage that ranks 21st in the country.

The Bearcats fell 16-5 to No. 5 Florida this past Saturday at Gettler Stadium. Wolfe led the effort with two goals, while Selhorn and junior Paige Counts each chipped in a goal and an assist. Despite the score, sophomore goalkeeper Bella Kerr was a bright spot in relief, making 11 saves in nearly 40 minutes of action. The loss moved Cincinnati to 8-9 overall and 0-4 in Big 12 play.

San Diego State enters the matchup with a 2-12 record (0-4 Big 12) following a 15-8 loss to Arizona State. The Aztec offense is paced by Mia Maechtel, who owns a team-best 39 points (26G, 13A), and Keira Doyle-Odenbach, who leads the squad with 29 goals. Defensively, Maya Tillman anchors the unit with 18 caused turnovers, while goalkeeper Caitlin Boughton has recorded 107 saves (.378%) on the season.

Cincinnati owns a 2-1 lead in the all-time series and is currently on a two-game win streak against the Aztecs. In their last meeting during the 2025 season, the Bearcats picked up a road victory, taking down San Diego State, 19-15.
