TicketsMichael Lyons began his role as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with Cincinnati Baseball in August 2025. In this position, he is responsible for the management, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries and illnesses for the Bearcats’ baseball student-athletes.
Prior to joining Cincinnati, Lyons gained valuable experience through a Professional Baseball Athletic Trainer Society internship with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he assisted with the day-to-day care of Minor League rehabilitation athletes. He began his professional career at North Dakota State University as a Graduate Assistant, managing the baseball program while also supporting the Bison’s 2024-25 FCS National Championship football team, women’s soccer, volleyball and wrestling programs. After two years in the role, he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Trainer for NDSU Baseball. During his career, Lyons has worked alongside seven athletes who were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.
Lyons earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Presentation College in 2022 before earning a Master of Science in Leadership in Physical Education and Sports Coaching from North Dakota State University in 2024. While at Presentation College, he played three seasons of football as an offensive lineman and tight end from 2018-21.
A native of Pierre, South Dakota, Lyons is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and has been licensed as an athletic trainer in Ohio since 2025. He is also a member of Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers. During his final year at NDSU, he was part of the 2025 Summit League Baseball Championship team that advanced to the NCAA Regional in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where the Bison defeated Kansas.
Outside of athletic training, Lyons enjoys spending time with his family and friends, golfing and watching sports.
Lyons, his wife Brooke, daughter Maggie, and their mini goldendoodle named Millie live in Cincinnati.
