Johnny enters his seventh year as an Assistant Coach, continuing a long and dedicated history with the University of Cincinnati Cheerleading program that began as a student-athlete from 2002–2005.
A foundational part of the coaching staff, Johnny helped guide the Bearcats to back-to-back UCA Game Day National Titles in 2022 and 2023. His coaching philosophy centers on delivering the ultimate game day experience for fans, focusing on energizing the crowd and creating a vibrant, unforgettable atmosphere at every UC event. During his tenure as a cheerleader, Johnny contributed to teams that achieved national rankings of 5th and 8th and traveled with the Bearcats to the New Orleans Bowl and the Fort Worth Bowl games.
Prior to his coaching career at Cincinnati, Johnny developed a comprehensive background in the sport, coaching middle and high school programs after gaining a strong foundation in coed stunting and tumbling. His expertise is further demonstrated by his nearly two decades of service as a judge for local and national cheerleading events. Johnny is an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a Master’s in Education (Literacy and Second Language Studies) in 2014. He successfully leveraged his advanced degree into a professional career as a Reading Specialist and Academic Coach for several years, further enhancing his skills in coaching and mentorship.
