Michelle Hille joined the Swimming and Diving staff as an assistant coach and director of recruiting for the women’s team in August of 2021.
In 2022, she helped lead 16 Bearcast to the CSCAA National Invitational as the men’s team placed eighth overall. At the invitational Micheal Balcerack won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:44.04. Bearcats also racked up seven top-10 finishes.
Hille guided the men’s team to a second place finish and the women’s team to a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships. Blake Hanna won the 200 backstroke for the second year in a row and Michael Balcerak was named ACC Male Swimmer of the Year. A total of 13 Bearcats found places on the podium throughout the meet.
Hille comes to Cincinnati after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach for the IUPUI Swimming and Diving program. During her time with the Jaguars, she coached swimmers to 15 school records, 198 personal-best times and helped mentor Emma Theobald in the 400 IM where she won the 2021 Horizon League crown, the first individual to do so in team history.
Hille was at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio from 2016-19, where she spent three years as the Assistant Swim Coach, Aquatics Director and Title IX Investigator while earning her Master's degree. During her time at Findlay, Hille helped athletes achieve a total of 92 NCAA Division II A or B cuts and 56 school records were set over her tenure. She also helped the academic success her the student-athletes as the team achieved CSCAA Academic All-American Status for each of the last four seasons.During the summers at Findlay, HIlle served as a swim camp coach at the University of Georgia, University of Virginia and Indiana University.
Hille graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Brenau University in Gainsville, Ga., while also swimming at the school. At Brenau, she was a nine-time NAIA All-American, including a four-time All-American as a senior, finishing in the top-three in the 100 Butterfly, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Medley Relay and 400 Medley Relay. She also helped Brenau to an Appalachian Swimming Conference Championship finishing in the top three in three individual events and three relay events.
