PROVIDENCE, R.I.---The final BIG EAST Player of the Week for the 2008 season has been handed out and University of Cincinnati centerfielder Tony Campana is the recipient. Campana put up huge numbers in helping the Bearcats sweep West Virginia over the weekend and lock up the No. 2 seed for the BIG EAST Championship.

In a four-game week, Campana batted .579 (11-for-19) and recorded a pair of four-hit games. The speedy senior added seven runs scored and six RBI, along with four stolen bases.

Campana becomes the third UC player this season to earn the honor, joining Mike Spina (March 10) and Josh Harrison (April 28). Fellow Bearcats Dan Osterbrock (April 21) and Michael Hill (May 11) were tabbed BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week as well.

Cincinnati opens play in the BIG EAST Championship as the No. 2 seed, taking on a familiar face in seventh seeded West Virginia on Tuesday. First pitch from Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla. is set for 5 p.m.
