CINCINNATI - The Red Team earned its first victory of the Red/Black World Series Thursday evening at Marge Schott Stadium with an 11-2 victory in Game 4. Freshman Kendal Coleman (Hillsboro, Ohio/Hillsboro) led the Red Team with three RBI and junior Andrew Burkett earned the win for the Red Team.

The Red Team jumped on top in the second inning, 1-0, before widening its margin to 5-0 after a four-run third inning. Senior Mike Spina (Newberry, Fla./Newberry) led off the third inning with a double and quickly crossed the plate on a double by the next batter, junior Kevin Johnson (Willard, Ohio/Willard). Johnson advanced to third base on a single by junior Jim Jacquot (Swansea, Ill./Belleville East) and then scored on a throwing error, upping the lead to 3-0. A walk by freshman T.J. Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and a single by freshman B.J. Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) loaded the bases for Coleman, and the freshman delivered a two-RBI single that pushed the Red squad lead to 5-0.

After the Black Team went scoreless in its half of the third inning, three consecutive singles by Spina, Johnson, and Jacquot brought one run home in the fourth inning, opening up the lead to 6-0.

The Red Team struck back with two runs in the fourth inning to close within four runs, 6-2. Junior Jamel Scott (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) led the inning off with a walk, and a single by Chris Peters (Tipp City, Ohio/Tipp City) followed by a senior Cameron Satterwhite (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) walk loaded the bases with no outs. Junior Lance Durham (Forest Park, Ohio/Roger Bacon) laced a two-RBI single into right field, plating Scott and Peters.

From that point, the Black Team tacked on two runs in the fifth inning, one run in the sixth inning, and two runs in the seventh inning to win Game 4, 11-2. Johnson and Jacquot both went 3-for-5 from the plate, and combined for three RBI for the Red Team. Spina and Coleman each went 2-for-3 at the dish, and Coleman drove in a team-high three runs.

Game 5 of the Red/Black World Series has been cancelled due to the weather forecast in the Cincinnati area.
