CINCINNATI - In the nightcap of the inaugural Joe Nuxhall Classic, the University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to Xavier University 12-8 Tuesday evening at Marge Schott Stadium. Xavier (17-13) scored five runs in the sixth inning and never looked back as it advanced to Wednesday's Championship game against Wright State.

Wright State opened the tournament with a 7-3 win over Miami (OH), and the Raiders will meet Xavier on Wednesday, April 15, at 3 p.m. at Marge Schott Stadium to determine the winner of the Joe Nuxhall Classic. Cincinnati (16-16) will play Miami University at 7 p.m. in the consolation game.

Senior Cameron Satterwhite (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) paced the Bearcat offense against the Musketeers going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI.

Xavier scored one run in the second inning and three in the third to take a 4-0 lead, but Cincinnati put together a fourth-inning rally to take its first lead of the game.

Freshman T.J. Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) kicked off the frame with a single through the left side, before advancing to second base on a junior Beach Brooks (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven) walk. Jones crossed the plate and Brooks moved to second base on a single by sophomore Chris Peters (Tipp City, Ohio/Tipp City). Back-to-back walks by sophomore Nick Rohlfs (Loveland, Ohio/Moeller) and freshman Kendal Coleman (Hillsboro, Ohio/Hillsboro), coupled with a wild pitch scored a run and kept the bases loaded, before UC scored another run on a sharp single by Satterwhite.

Two batters later, Junior Lance Durham (Forest Park, Ohio/Roger Bacon) plated a run and kept the bases loaded when he reached on an error by the second baseman, tying the game at four. A RBI ground out by sophomore Justin Riddell (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) gave the Bearcats their first lead of the game, 5-4, before the 10th man to bat in the inning, Jones, lined a RBI single into left field that scored Satterwhite. Durham tried to score from second on the Jones single, but was thrown out at the plate ending the scoring threat.

The Musketeers tied the game up in the top of the fifth with two runs, evening the score at six. Following a 1-2-3 Cincinnati fifth inning, Xavier scored all five of its sixth-inning runs with two outs to take a commanding 11-6 lead.

Satterwhite belted his sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the eighth, closing the UC deficit to three runs, 11-8.

Xavier added an insurance run in the ninth to take a four-run advantage, 12-8, and retired the side in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the win.

XU's Brett Greenwell earned the win, and John McCambridge was a force on the base paths recording four stolen bases.
