CINCINNATI - In game one of its doubleheader against Ohio University, UC dropped a 7-1 seven-inning decision to the Bobcats. Ohio scored single runs in the first, fourth, and fifth, before exploding for four runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Bearcats mustered a single run in the bottom of the first, and stranded eight runners in the game.

Gauntlett Eldemire led the way offensively for the Bobcats, going 2-for-2 with three RBI and a walk.

Zach Elmer scattered four hits over 4.2 innings, giving up the single run, walking six, and striking out four to earn the win, moving his record to 2-3 on the year. Brian Sand (0-1) took the loss for UC after giving up five runs on five hits, walking five and fanning four.

After Eldemire doubled to lead off the game, Marc Krauss sent another double into left center, scoring Eldemire. Sand struck out the next two batters and got Brandon Besl to ground out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the frame, T.J. Jones led off with a walk, Cameron Satterwhite singled to center, and Mike Spina walked to load the bases. After Lance Durham struck out swinging, Kiley Jones sent a sacrifice fly to left, scoring T.J. Jones from third. A pair of groundouts ended the threat.

UC had a chance to score in the bottom of the second, but Chris Peters was thrown out at home trying to score on a single by Jones.

The Bearcats knocked on the door again in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with two outs, chasing Elmer from the game. Reliever Matt Schlarb came in, striking out Kiley Jones to end the threat.

Ohio opened the sixth up with two-straight walks, which brought in Dan Jensen from the bullpen to replace Sand. Jensen struck out Chris Klimko, but walked Zach Keen to load the bases. Besl scored from third on a fielder's choice, and Eldemire followed that up with a home run to left field that scored Bobby Martin and Jerod Yakubik.
