Here's what's coming up this week in UC sports:
- The football team will play their first home game in the Hometown Heroes/ Opening Day game against Indiana State at Noon Saturday at Nippert Stadium. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio. The Bearcats are 0-1 after falling to Fresno State last Saturday night.
- The men's soccer team will take on Appalachian State at 7 p.m. Friday at Gettler Stadium. They will then play their fourth straight home game against Fordham at 1 p.m. Sunday. UC is 1-0-1 in regular season play.
- The women's soccer team will take on Illinois at 7 p.m. Saturday at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats have moved into the national rankings, earning the No. 19 spot in the Soccer America Women's Top 25 poll, after they upset Wisconsin in the last game of the Wisconsin Tournament. This is the first time UC has been nationally ranked since 2002 when they finished the season with an overall record of 17-4-3, and ranked as high as No. 21.
- The women's volleyball team will face nationally-ranked Kentucky in a home match at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats then travel to Charleston, S.C. for the Holiday Inn Classic. Their first match of the tournament is against the host, College of Charleston, at 7 p.m. Friday. UC will take on Oregon State in the second match at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and finish the tournament with a match versus Auburn at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Bearcats and the Community:
- City Barbeque has a great reward throughout the 2010 football and 2010-2011 men's basketball season:
Every Wednesday, starting September 1, if UC fans wear UC apparel into one of City Barbeque's five Greater Cincinnati locations (Eastgate, Florence, Glenway, Hyde Park and West Chester) and purchase a ½ pound sandwich, they will receive two free side orders with their sandwich. Fans can also plan ahead and order online! If ordering online, they will receive the deal at pick up and must be wearing UC apparel when picking up their order. - The University of Cincinnati football team and head coach Butch Jones hit the airwaves last Wednesday, Sept. 1 as the Cincinnati Bearcats Radio Network presented by IMG College debuted its weekly radio show from 8-9 p.m. on ESPN 1530 from the original Montgomery Inn. The hour-long program airs from its season-long home at the original Montgomery Inn on Wednesdays and Thursdays this season. All shows except for the Sept. 1, Sept. 14, and Sept. 30 broadcasts will air on 700 WLW. Those shows will be heard on ESPN 1530. For UC fans that can't catch the program live, the weekly Butch Jones radio show will also be made available free of charge via podcasts on GoBEARCATS.com.

In case you missed it:
- The men's basketball team completed its preseason trip to Canada with a trio of victories. UC opened its time north of the border with an 89-58 victory over McGill University . The Bearcats' next opponent was six-time Canadian National Champion Carleton University and again UC came out on top by an 87-70 count . Mick Cronin's team wrapped up the trip with a 79-57 triumph over Ottawa University on Sunday.
- The football team had its 18-game regular-season winning streak snapped last Saturday when they fell to Fresno State 28-14 in the season opener in Fresno, Calif. It was the Bearcats' first regular-season loss since a 40-16 defeat at Connecticut on Oct. 25, 2008.
- The men's soccer team defeated Dayton 1-0 in their first regular season game last Wednesday at Gettler Stadium. UC wrapped up the week playing Detroit to a 1-1 tie on Sunday.
- The No. 19 women's soccer team beat the College of Charleston 2-0 at home last Friday. The Bearcats kept their perfect season intact with a 1-0 win over Western Michigan on Sunday.
- The volleyball team defeated UC Santa Barbara 3-0 in their final match of a West Coast swing last Monday. The Bearcats came home to participate in their Bearcat Invitational at Fifth Third Arena. UC won its seventh Bearcats Invitational Championship, sweeping each match. The Bearcats opened play by defeating Kent State on Friday night. Saturday brought a sweep of James Madison and a victory of Murray State in the championship. The Bearcats improve to 6-1 this season and 23-1 all-time in the Bearcat Invitational.
